Department of Development, Operation, and Integration of Information Systems

The Department of Development, Operation, and Integration of Information Systems (VPaIIS) is the technological hub for software development at TUKE. Our vision is to contribute to a modern, digitally connected, and data-driven university. We create an environment where systems communicate seamlessly, data is meaningful, and technologies support education, research, and daily operations. The university should be moving forward — and we are its technological software engine.

We oversee the development, operation, and integration of more than 70 internal information systems, applications, and tools used daily by thousands of users. Our goal is to connect data, unify processes, and deliver user-friendly digital solutions for everyone.

We are building a unified digital platform that eliminates unnecessary duplicate systems, connects university data, streamlines workflows, and enhances transparency in information management. We focus on data centralization, process digitalization, agenda automation, and continuous modernization. Our solutions integrate technology, people, and university values into a cohesive whole.

The department manages a wide range of key university systems, including:

• portal.tuke.sk – the university's main web interface and central access point to university services
• Library systems – EPC, ETD, ISBN, HELIOS,  plagiarism check, and more
• OHSE systems – Vehicle Management, Request Forms, Measurement Instruments & Equipment, and RASB
• IS Cards – issuance of student and staff cards, identification, and data exports
• SAP R/3 – the university's enterprise resource planning system within the Sofia project 
• Moodle – e-learning platform
• CMS TUKE – central content management system for all university websites
• RES – quality assurance and educational process evaluation system (QMS)
• Power BI Report Server & Cognos – tools for generating aggregated visual data outputs
• Access control systems – SALTO, key management, visitor registration, attendance, and reservations
• Data warehouses – person registers, building codes, rooms, research areas, study programs, courses, etc.
• Support systems for users – Helpdesk, TUKE  internal phone directory, Risk & Opportunity Register, and TUKE Legislation Portal
• University websites – including the main TUKE website, this ICT site, and others

We are responsible for designing, developing, operating, and supporting these solutions in close cooperation with TUKE faculties, departments, and university leadership.

Our solutions are designed for scalability, security, and long-term sustainability.

We utilize TUKE's private cloud and all available hardware resources. We're actively working on deploying artificial intelligence for data processing and analysis. Every solution is designed to be interconnected, sustainable, and scalable.

Faculties, research teams, and administrative units can collaborate with us to meet their IT needs — from consultation and design to development and operation. We assist in creating and designing systems, websites, integrating data, optimizing processes, and providing data consulting.
