Telephone Services

IP telephony at TUKE was fully launched in 2012 as a service integrated into the existing TUNET computer network. New features were introduced for users, including caller identification, direct access to the telephone directory from the phone display, conference calling, speakerphone functionality, and free calls between universities in Slovakia.

From the user's perspective, TUKE's connection to the public telephone network remained unchanged. The original TUKE numbering plan was also preserved.

IP phones were connected using the existing TUNET network infrastructure. At the time of deployment, more than 1,300 IP phones and over 40 network switches were configured and installed. Currently, there are more than 1,800 IP phones in operation.
