Department of the Educational Information System

Digital Support for Education

The Department of the Educational Information System is the expert center of the Technical University of Košice for the management and development of the academic information system MAIS and plays a key role in the digital support of education.

A more efficient, modern, and transparent university study environment through digital tools—delivering data for analysis, informed decisions, and forecasting.

Our goal is to create a stable, user-friendly, and efficient environment for managing academic and accommodation agendas. We focus on digitalizing and optimizing processes, ensuring data accuracy, and integrating information across systems that utilize study-related data at TUKE.

System Operation

  • Stable, continuous, and seamless operation of the MAIS system
  • Maintenance of technical infrastructure (servers, databases, backups)
  • Monitoring of system performance and availability

User Support 

  • Training sessions and workshops for new users and specific modules
  • Creation and regular updates of user manuals
  • Helpdesk and technical support (via email, phone, or in person)
  • Incident and request handling through the ticketing system - mais@helpdesk.tuke.sk
  • Collecting feedback and suggestions for improvements
  • Personalized assistance with specific issues
  • FAQ section covering the most common problems and solutions

Administration

  • Management and administration of the MAIS system (modules: E-Application, Applicant, Student, Teacher, Administrator, Clerk, Public Portal, Accommodation)
  • Comprehensive management of the academic cycle, from application submission to graduation and issuance of final documents
  • Administration of code lists, academic calendar, and accommodation schedule
  • Management of print templates and announcements
  • Analysis and optimization of pedagogical processes
  • System support for accommodation procedures

Data Processing

  • Methodological support for faculties in working with student data
  • Mass generation and distribution of documents
  • Public Portal – publicly accessible information updated in real-time based on the MAIS system
  • Infrastructure management and data integration

Analytics and Reporting

  • Data management and integration with the Central Register of Students of the Slovak Republic and the Central Electronic University Application
  • Statistical analyses and reporting for state institutions, faculty leadership, and university management
  • Creation of visual outputs and reports using analytical tools such as Power BI and Cognos
  • Generation of customized reports based on user requests

One of the key pillars of our work is the processing and analysis of data related to applicants, students, study programs, graduates, and campus accommodation. We prepare reports and statistical outputs to support the leadership of faculties, the university, and government institutions. These outputs enable decision-making based on accurate and up-to-date information and also serve predictive analysis purposes.
